High School / Gymnasium for nine years (G9)
Give Students more Time – one Year more
Students who – for whichever reason – want a less comprised schedule than at the eight-year high school (G8) can visit the complementary high school (G9). It is the only general high school in the further vicinity, that leads to the Abitur in nine years. Here we also offer small classes and the concept of transmissibility.
The training plan of the complementary high school includes the same content as the eight-year high school. Building on the orientation level in grades 5 and 6, a seven-year high school follows from the start of grade 7. That way the students gain an extra year in middle school for the same work- load. In the last two school years the two course levels of the eight- and nine year tracks are joined in order to take the same final exams for the university qualification certificate.
From grade 5, the foreign language English is taught. A year later, in grade 6, the second foreign language French is taught, and in grade 9 students can choose from a total of 3 profile courses.
More than School!
The Zinzendorf Schools feature a great dedication to musical, artistic and theatre pedagogical support as well as the strengthening of social competencies. The nine-year high school (G9) offers sufficient space to integrate this into the school routine. There is also enough time to participate in one of the many work groups that cover different aspects of sports, music, theatre and art.
Besides this, we offer – in accordance with the curriculum – many extra-curricular activities and excursions. We organize student exchanges with our partner schools in Spain and Morocco on a regular basis.
During the orientation level, students learn to present and perform confidently in rhetoric lessons. The mandatory participation in the choir or in the orchestra in grades 5 and 6 also helps to counteract stage fright – which is very helpful for later presentations.
Independent work during self-organized studies is practiced as a fixed part of specialized classes. Here the students work on a topic for 2 – 4 weeks on their own. The result is checked at the end.
Broad Offer of Courses in Senior Grades
In the senior grades we offer a broad choice of additional classes, such as literature and theatre or the realm of fine arts.
French language learners have been able to obtain the Diplome d’études de langue francaise (DELF) for more than ten years at the Zinzendorf Schools. DELF is an internationally recognized certificate for French as a foreign language. Especially students of the high school who can deselect French, can optionally take the exams necessary for the diploma before entering the course level. It serves as an official certificate for French language knowledge when enrolling at a university and improves professional perspectives in francophone countries.
During a two-week professional internship in 10th and 11th grade, the youths make first experiences in different fields of professions. The internship is part of a full concept for professional orientation.
The Concept of Transmissibility
Our school system is laid out to enable each student to reach their goal of a qualified educational attainment via a personal path. Therefore, the change to the middle school, the vocational schools, the business high school and the social studies high school or the educator education is possible according to the individual situation and interests.
